Alnwick Castle and Garden The family home of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland. The castle is only a few minutes walk from the centre of Alnwick, “a town full of charm – voted the best place to live in Britain”. It has been a family home since 1309. The beautiful Alnwick Garden was created by the Duchess of Northumberland. The Grand Cascade is a ‘must see’ and is set within the walled garden .
Holy Island Visitors can only reach the island at ‘low tide’ by the causeway that links Holy Island with the mainland. It is very important to check safe crossing times, and a copy of the tide times is available for information, at the guest house. Places to visit on the island include Lindisfarne Castle, Lindisfarne Heritage Centre and Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve.
